Kunstenaars Kabinet:

Your dream Artistic project brought to life

I'm here to be your Swiss-Army Knife for the Arts: personalised and detail-oriented support for whatever your project needs. Whether it be assistance in-studio, producing an exhibition or cultural event, or someone to organise your overflowing atelier (or e-mail inbox), I'm here to help!

ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Meg Petersen, a fresh face in the cultural sector offering production services and artist support for exhibitions, cultural events, and independent artistic practices here in the Netherlands.

I am originally from America, but moved to Leiden three years ago to pursue an academic career in art history and the conservation of cultural heritage.

After graduating, I want to help independent artists and curators, collectors, galleries and collectives polish and execute their artistic visions. My services include hands-on studio assistance, administration, event production, art handling and conservation, art historical and material research, and documentation in interview, written, video, and photographic formats.

ServICES

Studio Assistance

This includes everything hands-on! I am proficient in painting and drawing, so I'm happy to do preparatory work on certain pieces. Studio assistance could also entail artwork cleaning or packing and handling. For samples of my work, please have a look at my portfolio or contact me via e-mail with your project's details.

Event Production

I have experience with diverse events such as art auctions and fairs, book fairs and exhibition openings. I'm able to make production schedules, (de)install artworks, organise transport for artworks and artists, and coordinate volunteers, venues, and suppliers.

Admin and Documentation

This includes answering emails and calls, scheduling meetings, organising and cleaning your physical workspace, and conducting condition reports on works and cataloging them. This can also include documenting your artistic process or an event via photo, video, or written reports.

Research

Being trained as an academic, I love research! I can delve into a new material you're curious to try, the provenance of a piece in your personal collection or conservation recommendations.

FAQS

What are your specialties?

My academic background is in Modern and Contemporary Art in Europe and the United States (1880-present) with a focus on how artworks impact media and society, and vice versa. I also have a background in conservation of artworks, and am interested in how to preserve works, performances, and exhibitions for the future.

Where are you located?

I live in Leiden, but will also often be on-site in your studio, event space, or collection. I am willing to travel anywhere in the Netherlands (it's not too big)!

How do you price your services?

My services are flexibly priced based on your specific requests. This depends on the type of service, materials I need to purchase to execute your project, travel costs, and your budget. This way, we can come to a fair price together. The best way to determine how much your project will cost is by getting in contact with me via the contact form or email.
